Membership Agreement
Preamble
The undersigned sovereign nation, acknowledging the Charter of the International Criminal Court (ICC) established in Cadence, hereby formally declares its membership in the ICC and commits itself fully to uphold the principles and responsibilities outlined therein.
Article 1: Recognition of ICC Authority
The undersigned nation explicitly recognizes and submits to the authority and jurisdiction of the ICC as defined in the ICC Charter. The nation agrees that ICC jurisdiction shall apply in cases where national courts are unable or unwilling to prosecute severe violations of international law.
Article 2: Commitments of Membership
Upon signing this agreement, the undersigned nation agrees to:
- Promptly extradite indicted individuals residing within or found on its territory to ICC custody.
- Provide full and unrestricted cooperation, including investigative support, access to evidence, witnesses, and necessary resources to ensure justice.
- Support and comply with ICC rulings, sentencing, and enforcement measures, ensuring that national law does not impede ICC processes.
- Remain neutral and non-aggressive towards other member states concerning matters within ICC jurisdiction.
Article 3: Enforcement of ICC Decisions
The undersigned nation acknowledges that in cases involving indicted individuals residing outside ICC member states, enforcement actions—including apprehension—may require unanimous consent by all ICC members. By signing this agreement, the undersigned nation pledges full participation in enforcement actions approved by unanimous consent.
Article 4: Ratification and Legal Implementation
This Membership Agreement shall enter into force immediately upon ratification by the undersigned nation's official legislative or executive authority. The nation commits to incorporating the ICC's jurisdiction and principles into its domestic legal framework.
Article 5: Withdrawal from Membership
Membership may be withdrawn by providing formal written notice to the ICC, with withdrawal taking effect two weeks after receipt. Withdrawal shall not affect ongoing cases or enforcement obligations already undertaken by the withdrawing nation.
